Lamp posts and other scenes

from Myrtle Beach. I love the uniqueness of their styles, the little brick steps that begin the sidewalk to the home, the ivy planted around the lamp posts, and the cactus on the grounds around the beach.

Sad Old Buildings

CS3 or Elements 5?

I am learning to love editing with both programs, but by far cs3 offers so many more features
that I realize now that my 30 day freebee is over....but it went SO much faster with only the one program on my computer. This was done VERY quickly, and with Elements, and I know I over-
processed...(need to use that opacity slider). But the more I play around the easier it becomes.
This was shot at the House of Blues, Myrtle Beach.

Forgotten

A few more shots from last weekend, a rainy day which I wanted to help with the mood of the photos (but then I lightened them in photoshop, so ...).
Going out again today, after many household items get a little more caught up. This hobby seems to be taking over, but it's so much fun.
Wish I would have been able to take my camera in to the Opera last night at the Detroit Opera House. We saw La Rondine and it was wonderful, the soprano was phenominal and the theater was beautiful!

Old Buildings

The topic for one of my series is "forgotten" so my husband drove me around and we found quite a few buildings, houses and cemetaries. These are two of many that I've taken...still editing the photos and I'm SLOW! More to come of a cemetary and playground.

House of Blues

These are lighted tiles covering the ceilings, and at night they turn to a blue light.

What a great place to eat, and I wish I had all day and a lot of models. There is so much
here that is interesting. There is a music theater attached for weekend shows with big names.
We had to go back a second time...we enjoyed it so much. Every wall and ceiling had
paintings on them, graffitti like, and there were a million guitars that were painted and
decorated with buttons and jewels, bottle-caps, etc.

"What's Next"?.....

is the new photography class I'm taking and it's a "series" class...the problem is too many
ideas and which do I choose? But as it turns out, it's not a problem because you can be working on many series at a time, and that really made it much easier for me. So now I just need to narrow it down a little, start out shooting and it may end up being an entirely different series all together, once I get really into it. My goal here is to improve and to end up with a completed work. The instructor is very inspiring and so good at what he does, I'm very fortunate to be
in one of his classes.
Also, finally calibrated my monitor and discovered how DARK and OFF my colors are, now do I go back and re-do them all? No...but maybe a few. And definately the maternity pix I did last month which I was re-doing anyway now that I am using Photoshop CS3...LOVE IT by the way. Also plan on posting the House of Blues pictures along with a few more maternity shots as I work on them. I guess I just need to have more time. Don't we all?

Southern Fisherwoman

at Cherry Grove Pier. She caught three sharks and one stingray that day, of course they had to be thrown back in. She was so nice to let me photograph her! This storyboard is from mcpactions, easy to use, and a link to her site is on this blog.

Inlet Point Plantation

Riding horses through wooded trails and along the waterways was the highlight of our girls
vacation, and this was just the place to be. The guides were great with a nervous Mom....
and the horses were exceptional!
We also went to Cherry Grove Pier and got a lot of fishing shots (for some reason I love to shoot
people fishing), and the coolest place to eat was House of Blues. I'd love to be turned loose
there with my camera and some models. Amazing photo opportunites! We are going to try to go back there to eat... I want to take more pictures as I've run into a little difficulty with my 50mm 1.8. Distortion! Happens when you get in too close...so practice for that.
Hoping to post more later and also wanting to use storyboards from MCPactions...
